Rest and Preparation - Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 Aug

The weekend allowed the team to take some time to rest, enjoy some of the remarkable scenery in the region, and also prepare for our final day in the community of Share.

On Saturday some of the team got up early and went to the shops to buy resources for the Care Workers Appreciation Day in Share on Monda.  After this there was a lot travelling as the whole team got into the mini bus to follow what is called the 'Panorama' route...there were some wonderful sights to see as we worked our way along the edge of the Blyde River Canyon (the largest 'green' canyon in the world)

As we got to the lookout point at  a place  called 'God's Window' the sun was jsut setting and we headed back to the Hands at Work Hub for an evening meal.

On Sunday some of the Chasetown team went to a local church with others from the Hands at Work long term volunteers.  The rest of the team took time to catch up on sleep and then constructed gift bags for each of the care workers from Share and also then there was a knitting class, led by Elisha and Pauline, as all who could (and some who couldn't) had a go at knitting a hair bow for the care workers.... there were some strange creations, and thankfully Pauline and Elisha were able to correct the frequent mistakes, so that hopefully each of the care workers will receive something nice.

After this,in the late afternoon, while some carried on knitting, others joined in some team games with members of the Hands at Work families.  This includes a serious game of ultimate frisbee - if you were a passerby, you could have mistaken it for the Superbowl final!

After tea we had a team meeting to review how we were feeling about our final day in Share tomorrow.

Many of us had mixed feelings... going back to a place which is so challenging and so needy... but where we really want to do the best we can for the children and carers.
