Privacy notice 

The Link for Life Project is committed to protecting your privacy. We will ensure that all information you give to us is held securely and is only used in a manner to which you have consented or would expect.

This privacy notice applies to the Link for Life Project, whose Trustees will be appointing a data controller for personal data you have disclosed to us.  A data controller is the person who determines the purpose for which, and the way, any personal data is processed, and is responsible for establishing practices and policies in line with the Regulations.


This notice explains how we collect, store and use your personal data. The website referred to in this notice is
www.link4lifeproject.blogspot.com and our privacy policy will be available on this website from 25 May 2018.


The information in this notice is provided in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 (PECR), and considers the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) which will be implemented on 25 May 2018.





What information do we collect?

We may collect data from you when you interact with the Link for Life Project on our website, by email, face to face, by post, over the phone or via text message. Some of this information is personal data which can be used to identify who you are. Examples of personal data include your name, address, telephone numbers, email addresses.



We will only collect data which is relevant to the purpose for which you have given it. However, we may combine data you have given with publicly held data to help us understand your needs better. Examples of publicly available data may include age, title, or church relationship details (e.g. records of your involvement in weddings, baptisms and funerals).


We do not engage in Direct Marketing. Often prospective church members and contacts are introduced to the Link for Life Project by current or former members, or attend one of our church services or groups, whilst some people apply to become members of the church by other means. Either way, the Link for Life Project seeks that person’s consent to receive communications, and what means are preferred.

 
Members of the Link for Life Project and its affiliated groups also communicate via social media: the Link for Life Project Facebook frontal are publicly accessible. The settings of these pages are managed and moderated by volunteers approved by the Trustees.


 





How we use your personal data

The purpose of collecting personal data is to ensure you receive our general information, regular prayer requests, and to administer information to enable us to contact you.  It also allows us to involve you in offering your gifts and skills in the service of the  Link for Life Project and the wider community. 

How will we contact you?

We may contact you via email, telephone, text message or post. However, we will only contact you by your preferred means and where we have received your consent to do so.  Should you wish, you can specify a time limit for which your consent remains valid, after which time we will not be able to contact you, unless you give further consent.  


Please let us know if you change your contact details or if you believe any information we hold is incorrect.



Storing and sharing your data

The Link for Life Project stores your data on paper in locked cabinets and/or on password protected computers and electronic devices.  Electronic data may also be stored on a secure cloud-based database hosted by Microsoft or Google, both of which store your data, within the European Economic Area (EEA).  Photographs for use on websites and Facebook pages are also stored on a cloud based storage facility hosted by Flickr, and videos similarly on a facility hosted by YouTube.


Your data will not be processed outside of the Link for Life Project and will not be disclosed to any parties outside of the Link for Life Project, except to trusted partners (such as Lichfield Diocese, Hands at Work in Africa and Mercy Air) and affiliates with whom we might work in future.


We will only enter relationships with third parties who have appropriate data protection policies and procedures in place. All data held by third parties will be destroyed when it is no longer needed.

We will not disclose your data to any other third parties unless we have your explicit consent to do so. At no time, will your data be passed by us to a third party for marketing purposes. If you are happy for other supporters of the Link for Life Project to be given your data (e.g. a phone number so that they can contact you directly) then you will be required to give your consent for this.



How long do we hold your personal data?

Your personal data will be held on our database during the period of our active relationship. Once we no longer require your data it will remain on our database indefinitely but will be marked inactive and no further steps will be taken to process it.  We will not keep your personal data for any longer than is necessary. Once it is no longer required we will take all reasonable steps to destroy it or erase it from our systems.




Your Rights

In relation to us processing your personal data you have the following rights, which can be exercised at any time: 

1.        To withdraw your consent for us to process your data.

2.        To be forgotten – to request your data is no longer processed or quarantined.

3.        Subject access requests – a right to request a copy of the data we hold about you.

4.        To object to your data being used by us for the purposes of direct marketing.



Our pages may contain links to other websites, and you should be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices on other websites.
