Johannesburg to Hands at Work, White River - Sunday 5 August

We left our overnight stay in Johannesburg and enjoyed a steady transfer East to the Loveld region of Mpumalanga. There was plenty to see along the route, but at the speed we travelled no time to take photos...

It was poignant to see informal settlements of houses made from corrugated metal just a few minutes from where we had enjoyed comfortable and generous hospitality the night before. We are being reminded that South Africa is a beautiful and complex country with many joys and sorrows

Along the main N4 motorway route we stopped for.lunch at a service station which has its own mini game reserve

We called into a supermarket to pic up items for our breakfast for the coming days and were glad to arrive at the Hands at Work Base at about 4.40pm

We were warmly welcomed, enjoyed an evening meal together and had an orientation talk from one of the Hands volunteers. We repacked our bags for the next three nights when.we will be staying in another location near to the community of Share which we will.be visiting. It's quiet now and after a brief team meeting and a prayer we have begun to settle in for the night before an early start in the morning.

Rest well.
