Africa welcomes us as we arrive at Hands at Work

1 / 1
Hello from Izzy and Heidi,

Today we are going to write about our ups and downs when travelling all the way to Johannesburg for the link for life project with our school. Our journey kickstarts with the eleven hour flight we boarded, interestingly time went fairly quickly when sleeping and watching entertainment during the late hours however after this time the team may have been tired but still continued with enthusiasm despite the hard overnight flight.

Once swiftly and smoothly exiting the airport spirits were heightened at the thought of being able to see South Africa’s gorgeous scenery and wildlife , from the music-singing-minibus we had the opportunity to view livestock and birds unique to the area and the general vivid view of South Africa. One of the highlights of the trip was oddly enough the service station ! We all got the surprise of seeing rhinos and ostriches, unexpected yes however all the while incredible as well as eating a well deserved burger.
The coach journey continued and laughs echoed through and we sang to music. When finally reaching our final destination we were treated with a warm welcome from those at Hands at Work. Introductions were made, tours took place and the most rewarding part of it all being able to share the events of the day with family. Yes we may have felt tired and occasionally dreary but sheer support was shared to each other and sticking together is what made the whole trip worthwhile.
Izzy and Heidi.
