It's been a long wait... but after nearly three years during which we haven't been able to visit our partner communities due to Covid restrictions, we are delighted to be getting a team ready to visit South Africa once again.
Some of the children from Mafambisa gather before worship, food and games at the care point. |
We leave the UK on Saturday 18 February and spend a week with Hands at Work in Africa visiting our partner communities of Mafambisa and Zwelisha both of which are urban communities in the Mpumalanga region of South Africa. The team will help with the feeding programmes in these communities and also take part in home visit and also play with the children and listen to their stories at the care point where over 50 children in each of the communities are fed and cared for by two wonderful teams of care volunteers.
After a week we will transfer to
Mercy Air and learn about some of their work using aircraft to take goods and people to remote parts of southern Africa. We also hope to visit some of the partnership work which Mercy Air are involved with in the settlements near to their base in White River. We are due to arrive back in the UK on Friday 3 March.
In the coming weeks we will be asking some of the team to write a few lines about themselves and hopefully give everyone an idea of what they hope to both give and receive on this remarkable visit which s a privilege for all involved.
Please do get ready to follow us on this blog and on the Link for Life Facebook Page and on Twitter
